Logo design for a Chicago's West Town neighborhood. Challenge was to build an identity and promotional materials for the annual Art Walk event. The event was not your typically art gallery scene, it was all the businesses on Chicago Ave. opening their doors and showcasing local creatives, photography, painters, you name it. All in effort to bring the community together, having the business owners develop a more personal relationship with the locals of Chicago.


At the time of the project, Haystack Studios was on the main strip in West Town. So it made things easy for us to explore the area and understand what characteristics best defined the neighborhood. 

We developed a custom retro script for 'West Town' in contrast to the off registered bold letter forms of the 'Art Walk'. By creating this contrast in letterforms, it helped define the hierarchy of read while letting the two come together to create a solid lockup.
